I have been having some serious wool sewing cravings lately now that we are going into fall/winter. Sadly, I couldn’t find any wool that spoke to me locally but was able to order a bit online for future projects. On the plus side, I did manage to find some pretty tweed flannel at Joann’s this week that I am LOVING! It is slightly thicker, has a pretty texture and is super soft….perfect for what I had in mind for this week’s make.
I am a huge fan of shorts layered with tights so I chose the Papillon Shorties Pattern for this outfit. After finishing my outfit, I have deemed them the perfect fall short! They have lots of room for movement (important for school recess activities, of course) and have all the little details to make them unique.
I used the Calabria Top to finish off my look. I have been seeing a bunch of people on FB rave about the new Knitpop Double Brushed Fabric so took a chance and ordered some to see what it was all about. I was not disappointed, it was everything everyone said it would be! It is a little stretchier than what I needed for the Calabria, so I opted to size down one size which worked out perfectly. Side note, I also ordered the brushed sweater knit from the same place and it is equally as soft and cozy!!!!
I do not normally gravitate toward greens but they look great on Joni so you will probably be seeing more garments in the future using that color group. Thankfully Joni has discovered that there are other colors in the rainbow besides pink, so I am not getting any grief about that like I did last year. ?
I made the top long enough to be worn tucked in, but Joni was having none of it. She thinks shirts tucked in are “weird”. ? Which is funny because I am pretty sure that was my sentiments back in the 80’s/90’s when I was in school. So just know, if you have a child who doesn’t have strong style opinions, it looks equally as cute tucked in.
I wish I was able to get a few more good pictures of the outfit but truth be told, it was in the high 30’s when I took these pictures and I was starting to feel like a bad mom for making her pose for me outside. I am hoping to purchase an indoor light kit for the winter months, so if any of you have any buying suggestions…feel free to drop a comment!!!
That’s it ladies! I hope you are loving on the outfit as much as we are. And if you are, we hope you will join our Lil Luxe FB Group and share your fall Papillon Shorties & Calabria Tops!!! ️
See you in a few weeks,
